The ORMS Team

Derek Ezovski, President

ORMS President Derek Ezovski has spent his professional career helping companies create best practices to manage their risks, with a focus on environmental risk management and remediation on real estate. Before founding ORMS, Derek, a civil/environmental engineer with an MBA from the University of Connecticut, served as managing director at Environmental Data Resources (EDR), a national environmental information company. His previous experience includes management positions with Marsh USA, where he was an insurance risk management professional; FleetBoston, where he served as the environmental risk manager for the bank’s Small Business Services Division; and Travelers, where, as an engineering manager, he helped resolve complex environmental cases.

The author of numerous articles on environmental due diligence and other property risk management topics, Derek played a lead role in developing desktop environmental products that are simplifying the due diligence process for lenders. As a resource to the Small Business Administration, he also used his expertise to make due diligence for SBA loans easier to manage.

Derek has presented to many leading industry organizations, including the Risk Management Association (RMA); Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA); Federal Financial Institutional Examination Council (FFlEC); State of Connecticut, Department of Banking; National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders (NAGGL); and the Environmental Bankers Association (EBA). Derek was awarded the SBA Connecticut’s 2022 Financial Champion Award in recognition of his efforts to advocate for small businesses during the environmental due diligence phase of the loan application process.

Patrick Corsinita, Vice President of Operations

Patrick works with ORMS’ clients to help manage their environmental risk management programs, including reviewing environmental reports, procuring environmental reports on their behalf, develop environmental policies and working with borrowers to make sure the environmental process runs smoothly.

Prior to ORMS, Patrick established the Environmental Risk Management role for Lehman Brothers Small Business Finance and later Aurora Bank Commercial Services and was responsible for evaluation of all environmental work for Commercial Real Estate loans. Through the real estate fluctuations of 2007 and 2008 he was responsible for pre-foreclosure due diligence activities of loans across the nation. Due to the variety of property types in the portfolio, Patrick engaged and managed environmental consulting firms for assessment and remediation of commercial and industrial properties to reduce environmental risk for the bank, while cognizant of potential cost recovery. Special asset management required court-appointed receivers to apply due diligence measures.

As the environmental risk manager, he assisted Credit, Special Assets and Real Estate-Owned Departments with risk evaluation, cost projection, and mitigation. He oversaw preparation of master services agreements with large vendors to control costs and manage contractual terms. He arranged, reviewed, and authorized pre-foreclosure due diligence measures including Phase Is, soil, groundwater, and soil vapor assessments. Lead-based paint, asbestos, and mold management for pre- and post-foreclosure properties were also reviewed. His experience in both loan origination and pre-foreclosure lending phases provides ORMS’ clients with his very unique perspective to help prevent institutions from incurring undesirable exposure to environmental risk. The breadth of his experience benefits clients by offering novel solutions, and not always another expensive site investigation.

Prior to this, Patrick worked with Dames & Moore and URS Corporation. His work included management of site investigations of former and current industrial and commercial facilities including facilities involving metal forming, foundry, dry cleaning, aerospace, and metal plating operations affected by chlorinated solvents, metals, and petroleum hydrocarbons. Assessments included investigation of oil fields, hospitals, multifamily, agriculture, and mixed use properties.

Patrick obtained his Bachelors of Science in Environmental Science from the University of California at Riverside.

Patrick has presented to the RMA and is a member of the Environmental Bankers Association (EBA).
